At The Makeup Show LA, I came across a brand I’d never tried before – Gorgeous Cosmetics, from Australia. They’ve just come to the United States, having opened up their US headquarters in Los Angeles, and I am really excited. So far, all the people I’ve talked to from Gorgeous Cosmetics have been very pleasant and helpful, and I even had a chance to chat …Read more »
Many people fall into two camps: those who believe in the power of primers, and those who don’t. If you’re a member of that second category, I’d recommend reconsidering — especially if you want to look your best in all those upcoming holiday photos!
As many a makeup professional will tell you, the foundation for any great makeup look (and for transforming into your most …Read more »
Ever since I moved back to Boston, I’ve been having major problems with oil and shine. I guess Boston is a lot more humid than California, so my skin has been super oily and I’ve also been breaking out really bad – which just makes me want to wear more makeup, even though it’s probably not good for my acne. By mid-day, my makeup is …Read more »
Well, I was playing with my makeup tonight, and it occured to me how often I substitute some cosmetic products with just the things I have on-hand. I thought this would make a good article, seeing as how I really haven’t written any in a long while anyway. Plus, for those of you that are like me and don’t always come home at night and …Read more »

While running the risk of making this blog appear to be a bit primer-centric, I absolutely HAVE to talk about Urban Decay’s Eyeshadow Primer Potion. I bought this the other day at ULTA in the original nude color after Anisha recommended it to me. I hadn’t had a great experience with MAC’s eyeshadow primer, surprisingly, and I know neither had Stela. So my interest was …Read more »
Every good artist knows that the base to every masterpiece is a skillfully primed canvas. It provides the necessary base to hold and maintain an artist’s skill; whatever the medium may be. That being said, I cannot begin to tell you how shocked I am by the number of people that haven’t been introduced to the miracle I call primers — so lets start with …Read more »
First off, I am not one to fall for any time of cosmetic base or primer. I believe it is a marketing scheme designed to get you to buy MORE stuff you don’t need, which doesn’t do anything for the skin or the makeup you put over it.
Now that I’ve said that, I have to say I absolutely LOVE Smashbox Photo Finish Primer. …Read more »
