As I’ve gotten more mature ( -_-), I’ve started using more and more body lotion to keep my skin hydrated and moisturized. I usually keep a bottle of lotion in my room, car, and on my work desk.   Recently I got a hold of this new product called (seed)+ Grape Seed Enriched Nourishing Body Lotion, (“Invigorating Citrus Blend”) and it is quite nice. I dislike watery or thick lotion… For me, it has to have a perfect consistency and do a good job of keeping my skin feeling hydrated. If I have to re-apply every two or three hours, that is a big FAUL in my book. (seed)+ has perfect consistency. I’m not sure if the consistency will stay the same after a couple months of use though, but I especially like the fact that I feel like I just got out of the shower after using it on my skin. I think lotion should make you feel refreshed and clean, not oily or gunky.  The best part is that it’s natural.

I was in search of a new facial moisturizer. I was using Seaweed Mattifying moisturizer from the Body Shop for 4 years. The Body Shop increased the price on it from $12 to $18 so I wanted a change.

I have combination skin but more on the dry side. I decided to try Shea Oil since a dear friend of mine loved it so much. I used it for 4 weeks. At first I didn’t like it because it felt heavy on my face. It had a nice smell so I gave it a chance. After 2 weeks into it, I noticed my face was shiny and oily. I was breaking out more and more. I stopped using Shea Oil after 4 weeks and switched to Oil of Olay but that didn’t last very long either. It was also too heavy and oily.

After 2 months in trying to find the perfect, right facial moisturizer and dealing with breaks out, I decided to go and get a facial at Jack Winn’s salon in Newport Beach. The esthetician there scolded me about Shea Oil and Oil of Olay. She said the products we’re bad and should never use it. She said Shea Oil wasn’t hydrating my skin. It was clogging my pore and causing more break outs. Being a skeptic as I am, I thought she was just trying to push the salon products on me. It worked because I walked out of there with $200 worth of Sircuit skin care products along with other organic products from Mother’s Market to try.

Anyway after 4 weeks of using Sircuit skin care and drinking Aloe Vera, my skin seems to be back to its normal self. I love the moisturizer. It’s has SPF, very light and smells like vanilla. The con is that it comes in a tiny bottle and cost $62. It’s a bit expensive but since it has improved my face just in time for my wedding. It’s worth the price.

Beauty Tip 1: Treating Dandruff

Dandruff and an itchy scalp can be a showstopper for everyone, and if good ol’ Head & Shoulders doesn’t work for you, try this easy homemade remedy: Massage 2 tablespoons of lemon juice into your scalp and rinse with water. Then stir 1 teaspoon lemon juice into 1 cup water and rinse your hair with it. Repeat this daily until your dandruff disappears.

Beauty Tip 2: Healthy Nails

I learned this from my mom, and my nails have remained healthy because of it. Slice one wedge of lemon and  grip it with your nails squeezing right into the pulp for about five minutes or more. Then rinse with warm water. Don’t forget about your thumbs! You’ll be amazed at how strong your nails will be, and shiney too! This is also a great way to clean underneath your nails too.

Beauty Tip 3: Freshen Your Breath

The citric acid in lemon can be very effective in killing the bacteria in your mouth that causes bad breathe. Squirt a few drops of lemon juice into your mouth then swish it around your mouth and swallow. Goodbye stank mouth!

Beauty Tip 4: Brightening Skin

Suffering from dark elbows or armpits? Rub lemon juice over any area of your body before you go to bed and rinse in the morning. Do this every day until you’re satisfied with the results. For use on your whole body, try adding 1/2 cup of lemon juice to your bath water and soaking for 20 minutes. Your skin should gradually get lighter and, best of all, softer!

Beauty Tip 5: Bleaching Hair

Looking for a natural and less severe way to lighten your hair? Squeezing lemon juice directly into your hair is the alternative to bleach.
