Makeup Organization 101

Since my makeup collection has been growing at a near exponential rate recently, I have been looking for ways to keep my cosmetics organized; especially since I’ve been redecorating my room. I googled for answers but didn’t quite find anything that great, except for the humongous and overpriced train cases from Sephora. Well, some of them aren’t that big, but I just think they can be quite an eyesore with their bulk. I may acquire one just for traveling purposes though, because they are pretty convenient.

So after googling, I resorted to youtube; where I usually find the greatest makeup tutorials. Here are some of the great ways I found to store your makeup and keep it all organized:

For Eyeshadow, Pigments, Blush, Everything.

Drawer Organizers

This is another handy way to store your cosmetics if you don’t have a lot of space in your room for new furniture or accessories like above. Make use of the extra space in your nightstand, dresser or vanity drawers with these organizers. You can find these at Target, Wallmart, The Container Store, or pretty much anywhere.

Train Cases

While this isn’t my favorite, I have to include it in my post since it seems to be a crowd preference. Train cases are useful if you do a lot of traveling, because most of them come with handles and they keep all your makeup organized and secure. Some even come with locks, if you’re really paranoid. I don’t like them that much because I find them bulky and I haven’t been able to find any cute ones. Most are silver, black, or metallic pink. Train cases have compartments in them that fan outwards when you pull them from the case, making it easy for you to find all your makeup. You store your bigger items on the bottom of the case. Most train cases are on the pricier side, but if you search long enough you can find some deals. I noticed that Sephora has some of the nicer looking ones and ULTA has some less expensive cases.

Brushes

Well, this is my own makeshift way of holding all my brushes. Usually, people just store their brushes in cups or vases, but what happens if you have shorter brushes that require you to dig into the cup with your fingers to pull them back out? I’ve seen the Sephora brand brush holders, and I thought “Why buy something I can create at home?” What I did was took an old vase we weren’t using and filled it with rice. What the rice does is elevates your brushes so that they are within reach. I happen to have a lot of rice at my disposal, since my family eats rice for breakfeast, lunch, and dinner (for obvious reasons). If you dont have rice, or want something more colorful you can use tiny beads that you can buy from any arts and crafts store.

And that concludes this post. If you have any other ways you organize your makeup, please feel free to comment!
