myCosmeticBag peaked at 213 hits today, which is very exciting news because this is a fairly new blog and this is the most visits we’ve ever gotten in one day. In celebration of this, we are running a contest to give away some of our favorite products to ten lucky people.
Update!
Grand Prize will now include a free Coastal Scents 78 Piece Makeup Palette! Each palette has 72 shades of eyeshadow and 6 shades of blush, and comes in a large mirrored compact with two dual side sponge applicators. More details here!
Here’s how you can enter our very first contest!
- Make at least one comment on an entry OTHER than the one that you are currently reading. Comments MUST be relevant to the entry they are made on, so don’t think you can get away with a few generic words!
- Make a comment on THIS entry with one topic that you’d like us to write about and why you’d want to read about it.
- Make an account as a subscriber to this blog by clicking this link. Don’t worry, you won’t be spammed; this is just to keep track of all our contestants so it will be easier to find our winners.
Ten winners will be chosen based on the quality of their comments, and from there we will randomly pick two people to receive the following Grand Prize:
- Coastal Scents 78 Piece Makeup Palette
- SmashBox Photo Finish Foundation Primer
- Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion
- 1” Professional Styling Iron by Zoe, plus other cosmetics samples!
The remaining 8 people that were first chosen by Stela and I will each receive a prize between August and October. We will raffle off gifts for two runners-up twice a month starting August 15th.
The deadline to enter this contest will end on July 31st, and winners will be announced during the following week.
Full Schedule:
- July 31 – Deadline to enter contest.
- August 2nd (Approx.) – Two Grand Prize winners are chosen!
- August 15th (Approx.) – Two Runners-Up are randomly chosen to win gifts (of lesser value than the grand prize listed above).
- August 31 (Approx.) – Two more Runners-Up are randomly chosen to win gifts.
- September 15th (Approx.) – Two more Runners-Up are randomly chosen to win gifts.
- The remaining Runners-Up will receive their gifts before the end of September.
In case you were wondering, the schedule is based roughly around the days I get paid at work.
Thanks for entering our free makeup give-away.
The contest is now closed.

Makeup tutorials? I’m new to makeup so learning the basics and finding new looks is always fun.
Makeup tutorials? I’m new to makeup so learning the basics and finding new looks is always fun. lo funnnnn
wow what a great website! Thanks especially for all the wonderful information and freebies.
Thanks!
I1st of all you’re doing a great job with this site, I’m addicted to makeup and like to know about new stuff in the cosmetic world ;]
Someting like step by step.
As for te future topics I’d really like to read about lipglosses- which ones stay on your lips for the longest time, which ones are not worht buying, maybe you could present few lipglosses of different brands by color schemes? That could be interesting
Showing us what you’ve created with your colorful eyeshadows would also be cool
Wow, what an awesome site! There aren’t too many sites like this online that actually look good and have great content.
I would like to see a lot of makeup tutorials with step-by-step photos, because the directions in magazines are confusing and NEVER turn out the way it looks in the picture.
Thanks for makin’ this site!
Thanks, Jussta and Marie S.! Your comments are super helpful, and Stela or I will be posting about lip glosses in the very near future, per your suggestion, Jussta!
Also, I do plan on posting some tutorials as soon as I can track down the SD Memory Card for my camera… I don’t know where I put that thing! I planned on doing some videos, but I think I have to work on my video-presence or something, because I seem very disorganized and scatter brained on camera! Once I get my act together, be on the look out for that too!
I would love to see you write about the difference between synthetic brushes and natural hair brushes.
Personally I don’t care (I’m not vegan) I just want a good brush that STAYS a good brush. Most Animal hair brushes I’ve purchased (yes they are probably cheap) wind up getting quite rough and scratchy over time.
The funny thing is I hear conflicting opinions/information on which are better. I’ve heard people say that synthetic bristles will break over time, I would think that they would be stronger and LESS prone to breakage than animal hair. Of course I suppose there are lower quality synthetics, just as there are lower quality animal hair brushes.
So I’m pretty hesitant to buy a $50 brush made of animal hair, because I just don’t believe it will hold up over time.
I LOVE MAKE UP
I didn’t know such a thing like the mascara fan existed. Thanks to your blog now i know.
I can say I like the Mac Fan Mascara. I think it’s the coolest thing. It’s small and cute. I would totally use it. I like to read about the latest thing like what your wrote about forever 21′s new makeup launch. I didn’t know that. It’s very informative and so out there. I would I like to read about the new makeup, skincare, and hair products out there. Bascially the latest makeup gossip. I’m a girl and reading these kinds of articles would inspire me to have more knowledge about makeup or buy the products that works best or it might discourage me to not buy it.
i JUST found this site, and ive been looking around…..and im really liking it!!
umm….for the make up give away thing, id really like to see your opinions on home-made masks maybe???
or even just reviews on the different kinds of masks out there!
id really like to see different home-made masks, and whether they work or not, or what they’re used for, etc!
i just think itd be really interesting to read(:
I love how this site is very organized. ^^ In the future, I really hope I could read more about recommendations on products that could benefit the face/skin from breakouts, dryness, etc. I also hope there could be possible video tutorials on what you do daily or weekly to keep the skin natural, soft, beautiful, and free from breakouts.
It would also be nice to be able to know what kind of food can benefit the skin. Any kind of tips would be awesome! Thanks!!<3
I love the reviews on the site! Keep them coming
What I would like to see on the site most would probably be brushes reviews – MAC brushes and alternative brushes. Also, maybe a section on FOTD or makeup tutorials would be interesting and a change of pace. Hope that helps!
Hii, I really like how you give very constructive and detailed reviews for us watchers from your blog to use for the future. I see that you have covered quite a bit seeing that you have many blogs especially on ‘eyes, lips and face’ which is personally my favorite to read blogs on. I have a tendency to look at many reviews before I buy things, so this is definitely a blog i will drop by often.
Seeing that you have reviews on eye shadows and more, for something new, may I suggest you doing some swatches on the eye shadows, blushes, or foundations? Basically, you just apply a little bit of eyeshadow/blush/foundation on your skin,(perhaps your hand) and you just take a picture of it. They sort of take part as an example. Swatches could help us a because then we could see the eye shadows on skin first hand. It’s something I would really love to read blogs on and as well as many other readers because then they can see how it looks in the light or with flash. That way, we can see the little details in the powder such as shimmer or glow, or if it’s matte. Swatches are just like examples, which can really help us and I’m sure others would like to see it too!
Hope this is something you consider doing!
xoxo,
Lily.
Hey! I love the layout of your site.
Hmmm, I’d love to see more makeup tutorials, particularly eyeshadow ones.
Do you do hair tutorials, by any chance? But anyways, I’ll definitely be checking back here!
Just stumbled upon your blog today and I have to say it is a neat blog. I like how you girls give a pro and con when reviewing products.
I’m new to make up, so your blog gives me a heads up on what is good and what is not. (Helps save a lot of time and money.)
I would like for you guys to have makeup tutorials (and perhaps hair tutorials?) because as I mentioned before, I’m new to makeup, so I’m not a professional at applying makeup and I don’t know what kind of products I should be using and what I’m not suppose to be using, what I’m suppose to use first, etc.
Also, I would like for a review on brushes. Honestly, I don’t understand the rave on the MAC brushes, and what the difference is between a MAC brush, and a cheap brush.
I would love to see reviews and comparisons on drugstore and higher end cosmetics. Im pretty sure everyone would love to save on some extra $$ if the blush/foundation/brush worked/looked/felt,etc the same as a higher end brand. I’d also would like to see false eyelash comparisons too! I’ve been looking for one~!!
I think if this website had a lot more pictures that showed the effects of makeup, then that would be alot more helpful and be more appealing to viewers. Pictures also do a better job of explaining and can show step by steps a lot more clearer. Although you do have a lot of very useful information, it gets a little boring to read. Sorry, i know all the other comments are all gushing about the website but i just wanted to give a few pointers for improvement. And i think a topic that could so helpful to a lot of people would be how to prevent eyelienr from smudging!!! I’ve tried everything from waterproof to setting with eyeshadow. There has to be another way!
I’d love it if you guys wrote about some recommendations for cheaper brushes since MAC isn’t in my budget range right now!
wow these are beautiful.i had ordered one before its really great.
